Macquarie University is a public research institution located in Sydney. Despite its relatively young history (established in 1964), Macquarie is typically ranked within the top ten universities in Australia and is ranked among the top two per cent of universities in the world and with a 5-star QS rating. Macquarie is considered one of the world’s best universities, producing graduates that are among the most sought-after professionals in the world. Uniquely located in the heart of Australia’s largest high-tech precinct, Macquarie brings together 40,000 students including 8,600 international students in one thriving hub of discovery. The campus spans 126 hectares, with open green space that gives the community the freedom to think and grow.
Macquarie has five faculties as well located on the university's main campus in suburban Sydney. At Macquarie, individual classes are called "units." An orientation program specifically designed for Macquarie's study abroad and exchange students is conducted by Macquarie during the week prior to the commencement of classes in both semesters. Issues covered include settling in to life in Sydney, culture shock, accommodation, health insurance, clubs and societies, email access, study skills, weekend trips, and social events.
Macquarie boasts over 130 student social and interest groups spanning every conceivable interest and social need. Interested in sports and fitness? Macquarie has a state of the art aquatics and fitness center open for student use as well as a number of intramural team sports open to international students.

Chapman students will be live in the Macquarie University Village which is apartment-style housing in a purpose-built complex located on the campus of the University. Each self-contained housing unit at Macquarie University Village (MUV) consists of five bedrooms (each with its own bathroom), a living room/lounge and kitchen on the ground floor. MUV houses about 378 students. Macquarie University Village is a self-catering housing facility.
Chapman University maintains a record of the courses that previous study abroad students have taken, and the equivalent Chapman credit that was granted for each course. Please note that Sample Pre-Approved Courses are courses that have been previously requested by a Chapman student for credit. It is not a comprehensive list of all courses available at the institution.
Universities in the Southern Hemisphere have different academic schedules with the first semester usually beginning in February and the second semester beginning in July. So for Chapman University’s fall semester, search for “Session 1", or "S1", courses, and for Chapman University’s spring semester, search for “Session 2”, or "S2" courses. You can find this information under the "When offered" information.
Students should search for courses offered at “North Ryde", which is the main campus.
Students are encouraged to request additional or revised equivalencies during the pre-departure process, which will be evaluated by the appropriate academic units on campus.

Students must enroll in the equivalent of 12-18 Chapman credits. Most courses at Macquarie are 3 MQ credits. Students are asked to register for a full load of 12MQ credits (4 courses) for a total of 15 U.S. semester credits.

All courses must be taken for a letter grade. Classes taken as ‘Pass/Fail’ will not be accepted, with the exception of internships. Internships must be approved by the Center for Global Education.
